Squeakers are fun.  They are not as difficult as 180 rollbacks and you can do them on almost every bike that you come across when you get them dialed- including mountain bikes!

  • Begin by rolling at a slow speed with both feet on the pedals.
  • Put one pedal down (usually your right pedal) and put the other foot on the front peg (usually your left foot on the left front peg)
  • Now grab your front brakes and do an endo that brings the seat up to your butt.  DO NOT let yourself fall forward over the handlebars.  The bike actually should start to fall backwards towards the ground.
  • As soon as the bike starts to fall backwards put your foot that's not on the peg into the space between the fork and the top of the front tire and (release your front brakes) push down on the tire to pull it underneath you.
  • By pulling down on the tire it throws the front of the bike backwards, underneath you and the back of the bike up and a little bit forwards (back into an endo)  DO NOT go over the handlebars!
  • As soon as you feel like the bike is falling forward grab your front brakes again!   This will drop the back end of the bike towards the ground and require you to pull down on the tire again.
  • Keep repeating this process until you are really, REALLY bored.  Then, instead of pulling down on the tire when the frame starts to fall backwards, let the bike fall back and put both feet on the pedals and ride away.

There are many variations of squeakers and hundreds of ways to ride into them.  If you find a way that is easier to ride into or out of them go ahead and do it.

For Example:  Don't put a foot on a peg- just put your foot straight to the tire and start pulling down.  Sit down and use BOTH feet to pull down on the tire.   Try a fire-hydrant into squeakers.  Or pinky-squeaks...  Or...  180 rollback???  Sure!  It is tough, but possible!

It is possible to do squeakers with either foot, or both feet, with the bars backwards, or forwards, as well as with one hand.  I don't think that I have seen NO handed squeakers.  But they are probably possible.
