The forward rope-a-roni is tough to learn. Once you learn how to do them then new
doors will be opened as far as linking tricks into and out of them. Of course you can
start working at an entirely different level when you have this trick wired. Darksides,
swtch-b's, megaspins, forward time
machines, and more can all be pulled directly from forward rope's.
Whiplashes and Smoothies
are both HIGHLY recommended tricks to know before trying this.
- Begin by rolling at a medium speed with your body on the left side
of the bike. Right foot on the front left peg and left foot on the left rear peg.
- Kick the frame halfway around like you would for a Smoothie or for half of a
Whiplash.
- When the frame reaches the halfway point let the back tire hit the
ground and get your left foot (the one that kicked the frame around) onto the right rear
peg.
- As soon as your left foot hits the peg tap the rear brakes and
pull the bike upwards onto the back tire. Take your right foot off of the front peg as
soon as you yank up on the bike.
- Release the brakes almost as soon as the front wheel starts to
come off the ground so that your forward momentum isn't lost.
- Let the bike coast forward on the back wheel in a large circle...
As you continue to go through the circle it will become tighter and you should let the
bike spiral into a tight circle so you can ride out.
- To ride out... When the bike has spiraled into a tight circle and
is about to travel backwards, grab the back brakes and untwist the handlebars. The front
tire should come to the ground and you should be able to step your right foot directly to
the right pedal.
- Put your other foot on the pedal and ride away.
NOTE: This is another one of those tricks where you can actually
push yourself along in the forward rope-a-roni position and learn how to coast the trick
before learning to ride in or out.
Also note: Riding into forward rope-a-ronis is perhaps the most
difficult part of the trick. You have to be travelling fast enough that you don't lose
your momentum when you ride in. You have to tap the brakes and lift the front wheel late
enough that you are centered over the back wheel. If you hit the brakes to early then you
will tap your foot on the ground. If you hit the brakes to late... well the bike will have
come under you to far and you will be crashing... This is a tough crash to escape from...
Plan on getting some cuts when learning this trick and don't be afraid to let the bike go
if it is falling. Parts come by a lot cheaper then bones!
